My Weekend...

was really great! It was busy, but good times! It started off on Friday as I went with Todd to the hospital to welcome a little one into the world. His best friend Justin and his wife Nikki had a little baby boy. He is such a little cutie! I got to hold him for a few minutes and he didn't make a sound!! Then we rushed to get me back to the house, because I was going to Disney on Ice with my buddy, Chrissy and her girls. It was really good. We had front row VIP seats! I could bend over and touch the ice. The characters would skate right up to us and shake the kids hands. I took 188 pictures!!! I don't even know which picture to post on here!!! It was a lot of fun!!!

Then, Saturday morning I got up and went with Todd and Tanner to Callaway Gardens to hang out and see the Fantasy in Lights Show that evening. It was a really good day! We had a great time and i got some great pictures of flowers and butterflies!

Sunday was spent at church watching our choir's cantata in the morning and the kids program in the evening with the afternoon spent with some close friends having our Christmas early with them.

It was a busy weekend, but a very good one!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I hope everyone had a great day today with their families! I went about an hour away to my cousin's house where we go every year to celebrate with about 50 family members. Even though my immediate family is small, I am blessed with a huge group of relatives! I always look forward to getting together with all my aunts and uncles and cousins even if all we do is sit around and eat and talk all day long. My brother and his clan were here for most of the week and it was a lot of fun getting to play with my nephews. Tonight when I got home, I went with some friends to see Four Christmases - pretty funny!
I'm so thankful for all the people in my life...old and new!! I hope you all had a wonderful day!

I just recently went to Mississippi to visit my brother, sister in law and nephews during the Columbus Day weekend. I had not seen them since the 4th of July and I have not been out to Mississippi since Christmas! I was so glad to see them. I love all the hugs and kisses they give me and how excited they are to see us! I love it when I go shopping while they are taking naps and come back with prizes for them and they are so excited. I was at Kohl's and they had these cute Curious George stuffed animals for $5.00. My nephews love Curious George. So I bought them and they went crazy...they were so excited. The day we left to come home, they were getting ready to go to school that morning and they had their Curious George's with them to take to school. Kannon, my 4 year old nephew said...when I hug him, I'll pretend I am hugging you!

Super Saturday!!!

Okay, so last night at my buddy Rachel's bday party, she fussed at me for not posting forever. It really hasn't crossed my mind lately. I've been a little busy with school and stuff lately and have not even thought about it. But, last night Rachel reminded me that I needed to blog, so here I am! I'm sure no one will be reading this, because I'm sure the 2 or 3 people that do read this have given up on me by now!!

So, today I went to this farm place. Can't even remember the name of it! But, I went with some friends of mine and their kids. They were suppose to have a hay ride, but didn't. It turned out to be a cow train...this cow shaped cars being pulled by a lawnmower. It had the most pitiful looking pumpkin patch ever, lots of chickens, and some really cute little bunnies. It also had this thing called a corn jump...this huge thing filled with corn kernels. Think of those fun balls that you loved to jump into when you were a kid and maybe even now you still like to...but instead of balls...its corn kernels. I decided that I would jump into it. Well, I really just sat down in it and when I did, I sank a little bit into the corn and before I knew it, corn was going down my pants ...not only into my pants, but my underwear too!! I was laughing so hard and had to run around the back of the building to try to shake all this corn out of my pants. Despite the pitiful pumpkin patch (which I am still dying to see a real one), it was a fun day and the kids had a lot of fun. We went back home and we (or Todd) carved the one he got for him and Tanner and it turned out really good!

Well, thats about it!!!

Doctors Visits and Prescriptions

This week has been a week full of doctors visits and prescriptions. It has also been a week of spending a lot of money of them. I should have become a doctor...i always think that I should become one so i could charge people a decent amount of money for my services! I could write on and on about how much I have spent on the medical field this week, but I won't do that. All I do know, is I'm not about to spend $240 on these stupid inserts for my shoes to see if that will help the pain in my foot that has been going on for years that no one can seem to figure out why I have it. Okay...so I will say...why would a doctor prescribe you some medicine that cost a ridiculous $40 when you can get the same thing over the count for probably $10 maybe not even that much. However, I don't think about these things until its too late! I found out this week that I'm a little anemic, so I have to take these iron pills for a month. Well, I didn't know that you can just buy iron pills, so I get these expensive ones that were prescribed for me from the pharmacy that are not even listed on my list of meds through my insurance company. After freaking out at the pharmacy window about the cost of all my meds, I give in and pay for the medicine. Why can't the doctor just say...go get your a bottle of iron pills. You don't need these ridiculous expensive ones.

I laugh because every time I go to the pharmacy to pick up my mom and dads meds...they are like...$1.00! Yeah, you heard it...a dollar!!! I asked the pharmacist one day, why can't any of mine be a dollar. Mine has to be at least $15 and up!! Okay...so i went on and on about the cost! Oh well!

2 more days of school this week...i'm ready for the weekend!!! Last weekend was good...i meant to mention that my good buddy Joge and Jon came for the night! It was so good to see them!!! I miss Joge living here! She and I just really had a great time together!

Well, thats about it! I need to go! Don't forget to remember and pray tomorrow for the families of the victims of September 11th!!!

Happy Labor Day!!!

It was a good Labor Day! I slept til 10:00 but didn't get up until about 10:30. I could have slept at least an hour longer. I went shopping with my mom and actually bought a Christmas gift, which I was very excited about. Tonite, I went to a Birthday Cookout for a friends mom and that was good too! Afterwards, I watched the premiere of Prison Break...well, the first hour and then I had to head home to get in bed for school tomorrow. And...now I'm here typing this. It was a good day off. I'm glad this is going to be a short week. We have Grandparents Day on Friday and most of the kids will be gone early! I just thought about my kids not knowing their poem for the program on Friday. Yikes...better get on that one tomorrow!!

HAPPY WEEK!!!

Fabulous Friday

I am so glad that it is Friday! The week went by pretty fast, but i was tired and ready for it. It's been a stressful week at school. Not because of the kids, but because of duties and extra things we have to hand in that are really annoying. Now, I know with jobs there comes a few extra things you sometimes have to do, but this is annoying. Thats about all I'll say for fear of saying stuff I shouldn't. Just pray for me this year. I need to have an attitude change really bad!!!

I was glad though when 3:00 came, because I knew in a few hours I would get to hang out with my buddies! Friday night has kinda turned into a game night for me, my parents and a few friends. Well, tonite my parents had some friends over that were their own age instead of hanging out with my friends. Which...i do think it is hilarious that my friends love to come over and hang out with my parents and play games on Friday night. When I was gone for two weeks this summer, I would call home on a Friday or Saturday night and my friends would be over at my house hanging out with my parents and playing games. Too funny!!! So anyway, my friends and i decided we would let the old folks play and we would go do something else. So we went to my favorite restaurant...Carrabas and then back to my friends house to hang out. It was a lot of fun. This couple that I have become really close friends with have two little girls that are so funny. They come over a lot and swim and just hangout when their mom and dad come over. We have snacks and toys and stuff for them, but anyway...tonite they wanted to know why they couldn't come over to my parents house. I said, well there's nothing but old people over there. She said...yeah your mom and dad are old. They are like 16!! I just laughed. I knew they would appreciate that!! Anyway, it was a fun night and I'm glad I have such great friends to hang out with!

Okay...so its been a few days! I'm starting to get slack again! No, really its been a tiring week. Most of the nights I have been in bed by 9 or 9:30 at the latest which is EARLY for me. I've been battling allergies all summer long and I finally did the smart thing and went to the doctor and found out I have a major infection! I had to get a shot, 2 prescriptions and some nose spray. By the way...don't tell your doctor you use over the counter nose spray...she'll have a cow! I probably went through 3 or 4 bottles of the bad stuff this summer which partly or maybe majorly contributed to my problem. Now, I have this terrible cough that I can't get rid of even with prescription cough meds. So...the beginning of this school year has not gotten off to a great start health wise. Other than that, I think I am having a pretty good school year so far. I have a great class so it seems...a lot of talkers, but other than that pretty good. They are really sweet!

Its been pouring like crazy since Saturday. Finally, today there was no rain. I was glad, because although we need the rain like you wouldn't believe, I did not want to keep the kids inside. They need to get out and play or else I would go nuts. I never punish the kids by taking recess away...that would just be punishment for me! Maybe a few minutes off here and there, but not the whole recess!!!

Not a lot to talk about tonite. I'm pretty tired, but I wanted to post something tonite! Tomorrow's Thursday which means 2 more days and a long weekend thanks to Labor Day on Monday! I'm looking forward to it!!
Have a great week!!

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Hey there! Busy day today! It seems like I haven't stopped doing school work until now and its 10:06 p.m.. The beginning of year is always busy doing all kinds of extra things for the school year. Hopefully, I'll get caught up soon and won't have to take so much stuff home.

My days at school with the kids seem to be going well. My frustrating times are in meetings and just things that happen after school that seems to set me off. I really need to work on not getting so frustrated with people and things that go on.

So my car is still sitting at the tow place! The guy that hit me still won't return calls to his insurance company. So, his insurance company won't pay anything until they get a statement from him including getting my car from the tow place. That really frustrates me...the fact that this was not my fault and I'm getting all the inconvenience from it.

I'm getting ready to watch the USA play beach volleyball. Its not coming on until 11:00. I hate that, bc I will probably fall asleep and miss it. Those girls are really good...Misty May and Kerri Walsh. I like watching them. They haven't lost a game in like 100 + games. In the meantime, i'm watching this movie called "21" about this guy who learned how to count cards at the blackjack table to earn money to pay his way to Yale or Harvard! It's alright! Its basically just on and playing right now. I have this secret infatuation with casinos...so don't tell anyone that I really like to play slot machines!! Speaking of..my sister in law won over $500 the other night on the penny slots. I never get that lucky!!! Of course, I play them like once or twice a year!!

Alrighty...i've bored you enought tonite! Have a great night!!!

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Hey! Today was a pretty good day despite the fact that I have to be at school at 7:00 this week. It hasn't been too bad having to get there early, but I know as the week goes on it will probably be harder to get up.

So, I went to visit my poor car at the impound today. Its just sitting there in this fenced in area among these junk cars with grass growing up all around it. I felt so sorry for it! I mean...hello...my car does not deserve to be in that junk area. My car is 8 years old, but it does not look it and it really looks good surrounded by the others. I can't get it out because the guy that hit me...well his insurance company has to pay the towing bill and i can't get my car until they pay it. Well, guess what...that guy hasn't even reported to his insurance company about the accident. My dad had to call his insurance company to get everything started. They were really nice and helpful, but can't pay anything on it until they get in touch with him. So, my car just sits there in the junk area waiting to be rescued and I'm driving my mom's tank...the Crown Victoria! My dad says be thankful, I could be walking! Yada Yada!! Blah Blah! I guess I should be!

So the rest of the night was spent pretty much doing nothing!! I like nights like these...even though I should be doing lesson plans or something! Nah...I'll do it later!!

I was very excited to find out that I have earned almost $20 in cash back on my discover card this month because of the 5% cashback bonus on gas purchases! I have talked my mom into charging her gas on my discover card so i can earn more cash back. Sneaky, yes I am! But, its working! This goes on for three months, so I could do pretty well on cash back bonus the next few months!!

Well thats about it for tonite! Maybe I'll get some pics up some day!!!

2 days in a row....

i know some of you are so proud of me. This is the 2nd day in a row that I have blogged! It's Monday...it was actually a pretty good day. The kids were pretty good...they are slowly learning routine. Hopefully, they will really get the hang of everything soon! Kids are so different from when I started teaching 10 years ago. I can't believe that this is my 10th year! Wow...time flies. Today, at lunch, this kid was out of his seat. I looked at him and said __________, please go back to your seat! He looked at me and in his sassy voice said, "I'm talking to Christian". It was all I could do not to lose my mind with him. I don't even remember exactly what I said to him but I do know he went back to his seat.

After school, i had to go to the Sherriff's department to pick up the accident report from my wreck. And of course, the computers were down and I couldn't get it! So, that has delayed that another day. Then, I stopped by the doctors office to see if they could see me before they closed for this terrible cough I have. The nurse .would NOT let me see the doctor. She said, I called you in some cough medicine and that should take care of your problem. Well, we'll see!

I spent the rest of the day loading cd's in my ITunes. I don't know why I didn't already have some of them in there. I guess it just takes time and I haven't had time lately.

Well, I am about to take some of that medicine and see if it will knock me out so I can get some sleep. I have to be at school at 7:00 this week for early stay. Oh how I hate early stay!! It's just ridiculous to me that kids have to be dropped off that early for school!! And most of them stay til 5:30. Crazy!! Anyway...

hope the rest of everyone's week goes well!!!

Planes and Car Wrecks

Hey there blogging world! I just finished my first full week of school with my little 2nd graders and it wasn't too bad of a week. I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm so tired daily and the past two weekends have been spent pretty much sleeping! But, I did have a pretty eventul weekend this weekend in between my napping. Yesterday, I had to get up early and head to the Macon Airport and I got to go up into a Sesna (not sure of the spelling) plane. It was a little 4 seater plane. I flew from Macon to Dublin which is about a 35 mile flight. It was all part of this Civil Air Patrol program that we had at school last year. About 9 of us teachers went up in these planes yesterday. I rode in the back on the way to Dublin and then on the way back, I got to ride in the front with the pilot and while I was up there, I got to actually fly the plane. I did a 360 degree turn in the air. It was very nerve racking, but it was fun. I was more interested in looking at everything on the ground rather than learning about all the controls and everything. So...i did that and then went home and pretty much slept until my mom and I headed to Walmart. Then, on the way home about a mile from my house I was just sitting there getting ready to pull out onto a road when this dude plows into the back of me. I have never been in a wreck before, so I was pretty shaken up. He hit me pretty hard and my poor car's pretty smashed up in the back. The bumper is hanging off and the muffler is dragging the ground. The guys car is worse than mine...the front of his car is all smashed up. I think I was more upset that my car was messed up because I have had this car for 8 years and barely a scratch was on it and now...people comment on how my car still looks new and good! Not anymore! So, now I have no car for who knows how long. Hopefully, I'll get a rental until mine is fixed. Well, I better, bc I will just die if I have to drive the Crown Victoria!

Well, its Sunday. I didn't make it to Sunday School. I think that Nyquil Cough medicine really knocked me out! I couldn't get out of bed. I did go to Church...a little stiff and sore from the accident, but feeling okay! Went to Zaxbys after church with a few friends and then came home to sleep and watch the Olympics...which by the way...Michael Phelps is awesome. I have really enjoyed watching him swim. He is so fast! Gymnastics have been good too, but I haven't been able to watch them all because they are on so late! I just couldn't hang!!! Well, thats about all for my weekend. I'm headed off to church in a few hours! Hope your weekend was a good one!!

I'm back...

but no promises on being faithful everyday to blog like some of my good buddies. I will try though. School has started back...ugh! Well, the kids come on Wednesday. I cannot believe that summer flew by so fast! Summer break is just too short. I sure hope the rumors I hear about starting later next year are true. For one, its just too hot to be in school! And...when I had to start back JULY 31st...I knew something was wrong. That is just wrong. Starting school and July just do not go together in the same sentence. Maybe I'll post some pictures soon showing you my classroom. It is rather cute, I must say!

Like, I said summer break was short! It started off with a few weeks off and me wondering what in the world I was going to do to keep from being bored out of my mind. Now, I'm not complaining by no means about having two months off. My past two summers have been spent in Maryland working at the best place...Camp Wabanna. This summer, i was only going to be able to spend two weeks there. So...i did nothing for two weeks until it was time to go to camp. I was in the kitchen again this summer with almost all new staff and a new manager. It was hard work and usually I extend my stay for a few days and never come home when I plan too, but this year I came home on time. I was so tired and worn out! I think I was ready to come home, but still was going to miss it. My flight home couldn't have been any more perfect...everything left on time and I got to Atlanta on time. My luggage was coming out as I got down to baggage claim and as soon as I walked out the door, my mom pulled up and I jumped in the car. Now that was WAY different than my plane ride to Maryland! My flight was delayed for about 2 1/2 hours...i had to pay about $40 extra for my luggage (which by the way, I didn't have to pay on the way home...hmm...i had the same stuff)...i had to wait an hour on my luggage at baggage claim. I was so frustrated. But, the flight home really made up for it.

So, I got home and celebrated the 4th of July with about 45 family members at my house. It was a fun day!! We even played some Cornhole! My brother, sis in law and nephews were here for several days and I got to spend so much time playing with them.

About a week later, I was able to go to panama city beach with my other family, the Howards! We had a great time! I was suppose to go back a week later with my brother and his family, but my dad had back surgery, so I felt like I needed to stay home and help my mom out with taking care of my dad.

I pretty much stayed home with my dad the last week or two of vacation so my mom could work. I didn't do a whole lot. Then, on July 31st, I started back! It's been the most frustrating start of a school year ever. It seems like we haven't had anything that we needed. It's just been a hard start. I'm just ready for the first day with kids to be over with! Then, i think everything will be better. I always dread the first day. I wish we could just skip over that!

I went to the Braves game this past Saturday night. Steven Curtis Chapman was in concert afterwards. It was really good and really informal and I liked that. It was just a real personal concert. He talked the whole time about Maria and really sang only about 5 songs. It was really good. I used to be a huge SCC fan...i haven't listened to him a whole lot in thepast few years, but I'm excited about his new stuff. I can't wait to get his newest album. I've been meaning to get it!!

Well, thats about all from my summer! Hope it hasn't been too boring for you!!! Hope the rest of your summer is exciting!!!

Mother's Day and Tornados

Well, its been a while since I've posted. I just haven't had a lot to say and I've been really busy. School is coming to a close. Only 6 to 1/2 days left and I'll be on summer break. We get out at noon on May 23rd and its a day that i'm really looking forward to. This has been a good year compared to last year, but I'm ready and so are the kids. I'm looking forward to a relaxing summer and two weeks at camp. I know that I'm going to get there and want to stay longer, but this time, I'm going to have to just deal with it! I'm loooking forward to seeing my nephews Memorial Day weekend. I haven't seen them since Christmas. I didn't get to make the trip a few weekends ago when my parents went out to keep my nephew after he had his tonsils out. Alrighty...on to Mothers Day and Tornados! So, Mother's Day arrives and we wake up early Sunday morning to AWFUL weather. I woke up and walked down the hall contemplating going and jumping in bed with my parents. I was a little bit nervous. I decide that I need to try to be a big girl and go back to bed. I turned on the news and all they were saying was take cover and stay away from windows. I didn't really know what I should do. I eventually fell back asleep and then woke to my cell phone ringing telling us that church had been cancelled for the day because the Macon Sheriff's Department has said that no one needs to leave their houses and to stay off the roads, because the damage was so bad. I was like...what in the world. We listened to the news and found out where the damage was really bad and new that we had relatives that probably had some issues, so we tried to contact them. After finally getting in touch with them, we decided to take my aunt and uncle a generator so they could plug up their fridge and not lose all their food. I could not believe the disaster! I looked like a bomb exploded. My aunts house was surrounded by trees...you could hardly see her house. Thankfully, with her yard covered in trees, not one tree damaged or touched her house. I wish I could say the same for the neighbors across the street from her...they had no roof. We rode nearby to our old neighborhood and the house that we used to live in and their was a big hole in the corner of the house where my parents bedroom used to be. Trees surrounded the house and were on parts of the house. I am so thankful that we didn't live there anymore. I took tons of pictures and if I can get them on here, I will post a few. So needless to say, this will be a mother's day that I will definitely not forget. ON the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day, church was cancelled, an EF2 Tornado came through and I was disappointed with the outcome of Survivor. I just had to throw that in, because I did not want Parvati to win! What in the world? So a disappointing day all around...except, I am thankful that with all the damage, no one lost their life in Macon. There was one tragedy about an hour away in another town, but if you saw the mess, its amazing no one else lost their lives. Now, let's hope that everyone will get out and help with the cleanup process. I spent my day out of school on Monday, painting a friends shop, cleaning up my aunts yard and a fellow teachers yard...i thought at the beginning this is going to be horrible, but it ended up being one of the best days and i was so glad that I was able to help someone out.
So, i tried posting the pictures at the end, but it keeps adding them to the top. Don't know the deal...anyone the first one is my aunts house and the second one is me and my mama!!

I Definitely Have the Best Friends in the World

So, for several days I've been trying to write about how I am so lucky to have the friends that I have. It just wasn't working out with pictures and all and I kept losing my blog that I wrote. So finally, I just shut the computer down and gave up. I thought I would figure this out later! So, I was sitting at bible study with my "girls" on Monday night and was just thinking about how awesome it is to be able to get together with my closest friends and study God's Word together. I mean, how many people do that? Probably not too many! Then, I was just thinking about how I have the best friends in the world. They will do anything for me. Well, tonite was no different. So, its my 34th bday! Yes, 34! How old that sounds! So, I thought I was going over to a friends house to celebrate my birthday with some of my girls! We were going to hang out, eat, play games, play the Wii and just have a good ole time! Boy was I surprised! I got there and walk in and start talking to my friends and boom...out of nowhere come all these people. My parents, my neighbors, friends from out of town, etc. It was such a shock! I think I was in shock for a few moments. So, we hung out and talked and played the Wii...then it came present time! I opened up all these cards with some nice gift cards and cash and then my friends made me close my eyes and took me outside! I opened my eyes and there sitting in the yard was my very own Georgia CORNHOLE boards made especially for me by my friends. My friends built them for me and my friend Joge MADE the cornhole bags. Poor Teddy, after getting hit in the eye by a softball and going to the med stop to get stitches went and used a jigsaw to help build them straight from the medstop! Then, to top that off, all my friends that pitched in to pay for the materials signed the cornhole boards with a silver pen. It was awesome! I loved it!!! So...hopefully when I figure out my new camera and how to load the pictures, I will definitely post some on here!! So, thanks to all my friends who made my birthday so special! I love you more than you'll every know!!!

Testing...

is pretty boring!! So, I'm actually sitting here in my classroom. This week is standardized testing at school. It is boring, but it does give a break from regular day to day routine. I get tired of saying...put your finger on number so and so. Mark the answer that does not belong - or whatever it is that i have to say. I think I could give these tests in my sleep. It is my 9th year doing it.

Maybe one of these days, I'll get my page looking as cool as April's or Gina's! Maybe when I go to camp this summer, they will show me the tricks to doing this. Is that a hint or what? Which, by the way, I am going to camp for weeks 1 and 2!

Alrighty, well its back to giving the last test of the day.

Carrying the Weight

Well, tonite I was just sitting here reading a little from my Sunday School book and I just wasn't getting into anything that I was reading. I didn't even know what I was reading about or understanding. So, I just put the book down and got out another devotional book that I try to read from a few times a week. It's My Upmost for His Highest book that is adapted for students. I work in the youth at church and its a book that our youth leader gave the kids. It's Oswald Chamber's book in todays language, I guess you could say. Today's devotional was called Carrying the Weight. It goes like this (and I'm quoting this straight from the book)...
Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

Imagine you are moving into a college dorm. your best friend has given you a reclining chair, but the only way to get it up the stairs and into your room is if you ask your friend to help you carry it. Many of the loads we carry in life are our own creations. It's incredible how many ways we find to mess up our lives. Now many of the weights we carry are given to us by God. But God will never give you more than you can carry. The amazing thing is that when God gives us a load, he will help us carry it. God does not expect you to carry your burdens alone.

We all have burdens. Choose one. Be specific and ask God's help in carrying it. He will lift one end and you can take the other. It's a partnership. God will not let you carry it alone if you ask for his help.

I had a pretty good weekend!! There were a few exciting things that went on. I do have a burden though, that I won't go into on here, but I just need to give it to God and ask him to help me handle it in the right way. Part of me just wants to handle it myself and just lash out, but I know that would be the wrong thing to do.

So...i'll close, but not before I wish my good buddy, April a Happy 31st Birthday!!! I hope you had a great day today and I'm so thankful for getting to know you the past two summers!!! Love ya, girl!!!

Not doing such a good job...

with this blogging thing. I keep forgetting to sign on. Maybe one day, i'll get into a better habit of writing on here. I sure am in the habit of checking my facebook and myspace multiple times a day. I would say its a bad addiction i have. I was even thinking of trying to stay off of them for a week. I don't know if I could do it!! Sometimes, I just sit here on my bed, laptop in my lap, t.v. on, going back and forth like something new is going to pop up on one of the sites. It's so bad!!! Anyway...i had a pretty good day. I had to go to the funeral home tonight. I hate going to funeral homes. One of my former first graders (who is now a 7th grader) dad was killed in a motorcycle accident on sunday. It was just awful. My mom and I stood in line at the funeral home for an hour! If I had not seen someone I knew who was really close to the family, we would have stood there probably another hour. But thankfully, she said to come with her and she took us in. I couldn't believe the amount of people that were there! It was in the hundreds!! So, I bought this book last night when I was at Sam's. I had to have an eye exam...the first one in over 10 years. I have been having these things they call floaters. It looks like gnats flying in front of my face, but its something in my eyes. So, I had them checked out. He dialated my eyes, so for a few hours I couldn't see a thing! Everything was so blurry. Thankfully, my friend Joge went with me up there or I wouldn't have been able to drive home. So, back to the book...with Joge's help bc I couldn't read anything...we found this book called Mistaken Identity that I had been wanting to purchase. It's such a good book. It's about this wreck a few years ago where the identities of these two girls were mixed up...one died and the other lived. This family sat beside the bedside of a girl in the hospital they thought was their daughter only to find out that there daughter was dead and they had been taking care of someone else's child. Anyway...you will have to check it out. I took it home and when I was able to see again, I started reading and couldn't put the book down until around 11:30. Finally, I made myself put it down so i could go to sleep. I read about 15 chapters...then I took the book to school and every chance I got on a break today, I read. When I got home from school, I had one chapter left. I finished the book in less than 24 hours which is amazing for me, because I am not a big reader. I think that is a record...I just couldn't put it down. The testimony that these families had and their love for the Lord was amazing!!! Want to read an amazing story...get this book.

Just one more day....

I only have one more day until my spring break is officially over. If summer break is going to be like my spring break, then I am in trouble. It was a pretty boring, rainy week. Two days, i know I stayed in my pajamas until at least 2:00 p.m. I did a little bit of shopping, a lot of sleeping and since I joined Netflix this week, I've watched a lot of movies. I got Alvin and the Chipmunks in the mail today. Why I even ordered this dvd, i don't know. It was just stupid. I loved the chipmunks growing up, but this just wasn't even good to me. I went to downtown Macon this evening with my friends, Jon and Joge. We went to the Cox Capitol Theatre to watch National Treasure: Book of Secrets. The cool thing about this theatre is that it is very old and it doesn't have theatre seating...it has tables and chairs set up and you order pizza and eat it while you watch the movie. It was really neat and different. I'm sure there are theatres like this everywhere, but i've never gone. The Cherry Blossom Festival has also been going on this week, but the rain has cancelled a lot of the activities. Last weekend, I did get to go down to the Lawnmower races, which was actually kinda funny. It was fun taking my Yankee friends to what seems like a Southern Redneck activity. Last nite, several of my aunts and uncles came over for a fish fry and one of my aunts and uncles spent the nite. It's always fun having them here. We stayed up really late playing Mexican Train - a dominoes game for those who are wondering. Like I said, the weather has been really rainy and stormy here the past few days. We woke up this morning to 7 trees down in our yard - one laying across the dog pen. Poor Socks probably had a heart attack last nite with all the trees falling around her. We were suppose to have our first softball game today, but it got rained out too!! Oh well, maybe next week will be better!!

Spring Break

I'm on spring break this week! It is a much needed break to get myself ready for the remainder of the school year. I just wish I was laying on a beach somewhere or doing something exciting. This week has been very low key. Yesterday, I did go with a friend to the Mall of Georgia up in Atlanta. I can't believe that I did not spend a penny! Well, except for breakfast and lunch - I did not buy a thing! Today, I got my first two Netflix DVD's in the mail. That was very exciting. It's the first time I've tried Netflix. I got Night at the Museum and The Ultimate Gift. Night at the Museum was interesting. It was better than I thought it was going to be, but not the greatest. I don't think I would watch it again. I haven't watched the Ultimate Gift yet...well, actually I watched the last part of it at a friends house on Sunday night, so I ordered it so I could see the first part. What I've seen so far was really good, so I'm excited to see the first part of it. I went to my friend's used book store today to get some more books for my classroom. She had a spring break special for 50% off, so I was able to purchase quite a bit of chapter books and even talked my mom into buy a bunch for me too. Then, before I left, my friend, the owner gave me two whole bags full of Sweet Valley High books. Okay...now why would I want Sweet Valley High books? I loved these books growing up. I wouldn't get rid of any of them and I thought it would be fun to have some more. I probably won't read them, but they are fun to have. Maybe I will...who knows. I got confirmation yesterday that I will not be going to Camp Wabanna this summer. I thought maybe I would, but I know that staying home is the best thing for me this summer. It will give me time to relax and really get prepared for the next school year, if I don't try to do something else. Hopefully, I will get to visit at some point. Well...that's about it for today. Hopefully soon I will figure this thing out and get some pictures and a better background up.

My First Blog

Hey Blogging World! I am new to this blogging thing. Several of my friends have them and I enjoy reading them. I've thought about doing this for several weeks, but I didn't think that I would really have anything interesting to say. I lead a pretty boring life. I work, I come home, watch some t.v. for a while and go to bed only to repeat the same thing the next day. You may wonder why I chose curly girl as my title for my blog. Well, other than the obvious that I have curly hair, its a nickname that my uncle gave me a long time ago when I was little. He has always called me curly girl when he would see me and its a nickname that only he would call me. In October of 2004, we got a call that he had died in the middle of the night. Apparantly, he had a really bad case of lung cancer that no one knew he had and we do not think that he knew either. So, I guess I name my blog Curly Girl in his memory!
